MTV2 and Comcast are taking over the VMAs!
The MTV Video Music Awards is the hottest night in music. Now Comcast and MTV2 are recognizing local artists with a VMA of their own - The Best Breakout Bay Area Artist Award!
After 129 Bay Area bands entered and hundreds of thousands of votes were cast, MTV selected the below 3 nominees from your top 20 ranked artists. The nominees earned themselves a national spot on Bay Area Week on MTV2 but only one will be declared the Best Breakout Bay Area Artist!
The winner will be revealed locally on Comcast during the live MTV VMAs on Sunday September 13th! Tune-in to see which Bay Area band wins!

The New Up

Picture Me Broken
"Dearest (I'm So Sorry)"The teenagers bring the noise in Redwood City’s hard rock outfit, Picture Me Broken. The not-so-sweet 15 & 16 year-olds describe their music as a, “… a blend of hardcore with pop vocals to create an onslaught of awesomeness.” PMB cites Flyleaf, Paramore and Scary Kids Scarying kids amongst their influences.

Oona
"Trouble"Oona is grounded by soulful vocals reminiscent of Joplin and Winehouse yet the band takes flight with their get-up-and-dance rhythms. This musical yin and yang is thanks to founding members Dave Tweedie and the Oona Garthwaite- who co-wrote their debut LP “SHHHHOUT!!”.
